Underwriter/Senior, Financial Lines

Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite new and renewal financial lines business using The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities that align with organizational appetite.
• Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, close deals, and cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density.
• Develop and maintain strong broker and client networks, serving as the primary contact for target accounts.
• Measure exposure, analyze risk, and accurately calculate target prices using appropriate underwriting tools.
• Lead marketing presentations, sales team meetings, and participate in the target account process.
• Provide expertise on coverage issues and contribute to the development of underwriting manuals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, law, or a related field.
• 3 to 7 years of underwriting experience specifically in financial lines and cyber.
• Proven experience managing Singapore and Southeast Asia (SEA) risk.
• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing strategies.
• Proficiency in using underwriting tools and software.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to build relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions within delegated authority levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or professional certification such as ACII or CPCU.
• Expertise in underwriting SME risks or commercial Professional Indemnity (PI) risks.
