Underwriter, Professional Liability

Responsibilities

• Assess the suitability of risks for renewals and new business, pricing exposures according to approved models and guidelines
• Evaluate additional risk assessment information, including actuarial, financial, and public reports
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders in claims, actuarial, and operations departments
• Maintain ongoing liaison with producers to obtain information, evaluate risks, and present terms
• Oversee risks through the entire policy life-cycle, including pre-renewal and ongoing management
• Perform marketing activities and maintain key producer and client relationships
• Implement ceded reinsurance actions in accordance with business unit guidelines
• Support the Line of Business Head with business planning, data analysis, and reporting

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Professional Indemnity (PI) underwriting position
• University degree
• Strong knowledge and understanding of rating, coverage, and regulations specific to the class of business
• Demonstrated competence in maintaining broker and client relationships
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Regulatory and compliance awareness

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification in underwriting
