Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Underwrite FHA/VA and Conventional loan applications ensuring adherence to Company and investor credit quality standards
• Analyze mortgage loan files including application, income documentation, appraisal, and title reports
• Evaluate overall income, credit, and equity of each loan application
• Support Loan Officers during the qualification process and for turndown decisions
• Analyze appraisals for completeness and conformity with industry-accepted practices and FHA/VA requirements
• Maintain mandated turn times for new reviews and conditions
• Communicate with team members and management on outstanding requirements and loan status

Requirements

• FHA DE Designation (CHUMS#)
• VA SAR/LAP
• USDA/VHDA experience
• Experience with Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter and Freddie Mac Loan Prospector
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state mortgage guidelines
• Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and government regulations
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
