About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage administrative functions for Economics undergraduate programs, including admissions, course scheduling, and student advising services
- Process admissions applications, interpret transcripts, and coordinate admission offers for Majors, Combined Majors, and Honours programs
- Act as the Timetable Representative for undergraduate economics courses, managing scheduling for over 160 sections per year
- Provide academic guidance to approximately 1,000 domestic and international students regarding registration, program requirements, and university policies
- Coordinate academic misconduct cases and support the Academic Integrity Advisor with documentation and reporting
- Plan and execute departmental events such as graduation receptions and Honours poster sessions
- Supervise and provide direction to the Undergraduate Programs Assistant
- Maintain departmental websites, email lists, and official correspondence to ensure timely student communication
Requirements
- High School graduation
- One year post-secondary diploma
- Four years of related administrative or academic coordination experience
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with UBC academic systems and administrative workflows
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems in a high-workload environment
- Excellent attention to detail and professional communication skills
