About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of admissions, including application processing, offers, refusals, and recruitment activities.
- Manage course scheduling for over 160 undergraduate ECON sections, including labs and discussion sections.
- Monitor course registrations, prerequisites, and eligibility to ensure students meet program requirements.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for approximately 1000 students, providing guidance on registration, program requirements, and academic support.
- Coordinate final exam schedules and the exam viewing process while maintaining strict privacy and security protocols.
- Assist with student misconduct cases by attending meetings and documenting case progression.
- Supervise Work Learn students and volunteers at the Economics Learning Center (ELC).
- Prepare scholarship recommendations and manage administrative tasks such as change of grade forms and curriculum change documentation.
- Maintain departmental files, email lists, and statistical reports regarding admissions and enrollment.
Requirements
- High School graduation.
- One year of post-secondary diploma.
- Four years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Productivity Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of UBC academic systems.
- High level of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage problems in a high-workload environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to communicate complex School, Faculty, and University policies clearly and professionally.
