UC&M Mechanic 1/C

Responsibilities

• Perform construction and maintenance of electrical energy production and distribution equipment, including motors, generators, and hydro station apparatus
• Install, test, remove, or replace components such as transformers, circuit breakers, rectifiers, and lightning arresters
• Test, operate, and repair hydro station equipment including penstocks, spillways, dams, and water turbines
• Install and maintain underground and overhead systems, including cable splicing, insulating, and welding
• Manage lighting systems in streets, yards, or buildings
• Direct the work of other crew members and assist in planning work of a wide scope

Requirements

• 3 years of experience as a Utility Construction and Maintenance Man-Second Class or equivalent
• Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or a related field (or equivalent via company-approved testing)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical tagging rules
• Proficiency in First Aid and company safety rules
• Valid automobile operator's license
• Ability to perform arduous physical labor in various outdoor weather conditions
