UC&M Mechanic 1/C

Responsibilities

• Perform construction and maintenance of electrical energy production and distribution equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, and circuit breakers
• Test, operate, and repair hydro station equipment such as penstocks, spillways, dams, and water turbines
• Install and replace underground and overhead systems, including cable splicing, insulating, and welding
• Manage lighting systems in streets, yards, or buildings
• Direct the work of other crew members and helpers as required
• Maintain strict adherence to company electrical and mechanical tagging rules and safety protocols

Requirements

• At least three years of experience as a Utility Construction and Maintenance Man-Second Class or equivalent
• Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or a related field (or equivalent via company-approved testing)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Proficiency in First Aid and knowledge of approved resuscitation methods
• Valid automobile operator's license
• Physical strength and endurance to perform arduous labor in various outdoor weather conditions
• Ability to work irregular hours, shifts, and under unusual working conditions
