UAV Prototyping Engineer

Responsibilities

• Physically build UAV prototypes end-to-end, from design concept and material selection through to first flight
• Design and fabricate airframe structures, avionic stacks, mechanisms, and ground support equipment
• Work directly with multidisciplinary engineering groups to integrate systems
• Support flight test campaigns in the field, including launches, recoveries, and rapid turnaround repairs
• Apply engineering rigor to document and systematize informal knowledge and lessons learned from prototyping

Requirements

• Demonstrable end-to-end experience across a full engineering development cycle (concept, design, analysis, prototyping, and testing)
• Hands-on experience with composites, mechanical assemblies, robotics, and embedded hardware integration
• Strong spatial and logical problem-solving mindset with the ability to perform root cause analysis
• Comfort with ambiguity and fast iteration in a high-pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Active A2/A3 drone pilot certification or equivalent national license
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360
• Familiarity with flight controller ecosystems like PX4, ArduPilot, or Betaflight
• Experience with fixed-wing platforms in addition to multirotors
• Background in workshop environments or motorsport
