TX/RX Subcomponent Testing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Characterization of subcomponents of optical transmitters and receivers used in parallel opto-electronic interfaces (LEDs and PDs)
• Work with the epitaxial development group to characterize bandgap structure, modulation speed, and efficiency using spectroscopy, S21 measurement, SIMS, FIB, and SEM
• Test photodetectors to extract relevant parameters and provide feedback for developers
• Maintain and improve opto-electronic test systems for full characterization of optical sub-components and modules
• Run link DOEs for sub-component development

Requirements

• MS or PhD in electrical engineering or physics
• 2+ years of experience
• Understanding of solid-state physics and physical principles behind LED/PD design
• Experience with LED/PD characterization
• Understanding of Optics

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to execute DOEs to improve sub-component performance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of high-speed test instruments (VNAs, sampling/real-time oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, optical spectrometers)
• Hands-on lab experience with probed/free space coupled optical systems
