Tutor I

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support in mathematics ranging from basic math through Calculus
• Perform tutoring sessions both independently and with assistance from supervisors
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all tutoring sessions
• Communicate with subject-area faculty to ensure appropriate tutoring methodologies
• Guide students in developing effective study and test-taking skills
• Create and develop targeted instructional materials to address specific learning difficulties
• Provide tutoring to both individuals and small groups

Requirements

• Math knowledge through Calculus and Statistics
• Documented course completion with a grade of A or B in the subject being tutored
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students and colleagues
• Written approval from a content instructor or endorsement from a tutor trainer/supervisor

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with or teaching high school students
• Two-year degree or BA/BS in a related field
• Previous tutoring experience
• Knowledge of learning and study skills
• Bilingual in English/Spanish
