Tutor and Retention Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Assess the learning needs of undergraduate prelicensure students and identify key areas for remediation.
• Collaborate with faculty to identify at-risk students early in the term to improve academic performance.
• Meet with students regularly to clarify learning problems, develop individualized learning contracts, and improve study skills.
• Develop and implement a schedule of regular individual and group educational sessions.
• Research methods to increase student performance on standardized exams, specifically focusing on NCLEX-RN® pass rates.
• Maintain all records required to document student attendance and academic progress.
• Select appropriate learning resources for use in the tutoring center and collect data on program outcomes.
• Refer students to counseling or other support services as necessary.

Requirements

• MSN degree with knowledge of healthcare systems.
• 2 years of experience in tutoring and remediation.
• Unencumbered nursing license.
• Proficiency with computer systems to track student performance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, as a team player, and handle detailed work in a multi-task environment.
