Tunnel Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Carry out surveys to control the position and alignment of tunnel primary SCL lining and secondary lining concrete shutter
• Manage and transfer tunnel control during tunneling works using high-end equipment
• Prepare documentation including reports and graphical displays for submission and review
• Advance and maintain survey control during primary SCL and secondary lining works, including installing survey fixings
• Manage SCL tunnel profiles using Amberg and produce profiles for daily SRG from SCL Engineer Data
• Set-out the secondary lining shutter and liaise with tunnel engineers
• Carry out Wriggle and as-built surveys and assist lining scanning
• Implement processes for storing, managing, and retrieving data for the design process
• Develop and document quality checks and data redundancy for control verification
• Use Starnet least squares network adjustment software
• Supervise chainpersons and assistant engineers/surveyors as required
• Maintain an accurate daily site diary including variations, subcontractor attendance, and project discussions
• Promote and maintain a positive safety culture on the project

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of surveying procedures and working methods
• Expertise in surveying and setting-out on major civil engineering projects
• Knowledge of tunnel surveying
• Experience working with a major civil engineering contractor within a survey department
• Proficiency with Starnet and Amberg software
• Microsoft Office skills
• Professional Land Surveying qualification (Degree, Diploma, or equivalent)
• Ability to work independently with high accuracy and meet deadlines
• Strong collaborative skills to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
