Tune Tester

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly inspect guitars for finish flaws and mechanical or cosmetic defects
• Tune and test guitars for playability and intonation, making minor adjustments as needed
• Perform adjustments to truss rods, nut finishing, and level/dress frets
• Sand and buff neck finishes and frets
• Build control and pickguard assemblies
• Review routing packets to verify standard or customized work requirements
• Manage specialty hardware inventory and routing packet documentation
• Polish the body and neck of each guitar

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience or training in production inspection
• Guitar playing background
• Strong guitar building, woodworking, and finishing skills
• Knowledge of fret leveling and dressing
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, digital multimeters, hand tools, feeler gauges, soldering equipment, and buffing wheels
• Ability to adhere to safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
