About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as a Trustee/Payee by managing client income (OW, ODSP, pensions) to ensure essential needs like rent and utilities are met.
- Provide one-on-one financial literacy training, including budgeting, debt management, and fraud prevention.
- Create and maintain accurate financial records, receipts, and reports using Excel and the Regional Accounting Centre (RAC).
- Conduct client intake assessments and develop individualized support plans to promote long-term financial independence.
- Liaise with landlords and property management to prevent evictions and maintain housing stability.
- Coordinate with community agencies, mental health professionals, and addiction services to support holistic client needs.
- Maintain confidential and up-to-date case notes and documentation in compliance with privacy legislation.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or a related field.
- 2 years of related casework experience, preferably working with marginalized populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, for financial tracking and administration.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a trauma-informed approach and maintain professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
- Experience in financial coaching or debt reduction counseling.
