About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Trustee/Payee by managing client income (OW, ODSP, pensions) to ensure essential needs like rent and utilities are met.
  • Provide one-on-one financial literacy training, including budgeting, debt management, and fraud prevention.
  • Create and maintain accurate financial records, receipts, and reports using Excel and the Regional Accounting Centre (RAC).
  • Conduct client intake assessments and develop individualized support plans to promote long-term financial independence.
  • Liaise with landlords and property management to prevent evictions and maintain housing stability.
  • Coordinate with community agencies, mental health professionals, and addiction services to support holistic client needs.
  • Maintain confidential and up-to-date case notes and documentation in compliance with privacy legislation.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or a related field.
  • 2 years of related casework experience, preferably working with marginalized populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, for financial tracking and administration.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a trauma-informed approach and maintain professional boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
  • Experience in financial coaching or debt reduction counseling.
