TRIO SSS/CSTEP Advisor

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with CSTEP and TRIO SSS students to address academic and personal concerns and create success goals.
• Maintain accurate student profiles and progress records.
• Assist students with financial aid concerns by partnering with the Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and the Registrar.
• Create and facilitate workshops and experiences covering academic, social, career, personal, financial, and cultural topics.
• Collaborate with university departments, faculty, tutors, and academic support staff to advocate for student needs.
• Support program evaluation and expansion efforts in coordination with the Director.
• Chaperone cultural development opportunities and graduate school visits.

Requirements

• Master's degree in education, counseling, social sciences, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to work with undergraduate students both individually and in groups.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media.
• Literacy in using student information systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong organizational attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working specifically with CSTEP or TRIO SSS program students.
• Experience as a former student in a TRIO or CSTEP program.
• Background working with academic youth programs, non-profits, or higher education.
• Experience with crisis intervention or advocacy counseling.
