About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop specialized programs for trial practice and supervise pro bono projects with law firms
- Collaborate with trial and appeals teams to identify appropriate cases for referral and develop affirmative litigation strategies
- Assist in the development and coordination of amicus briefs for local and national cases
- Supervise the implementation of legal strategies and mentor trial staff and pro bono attorneys
- Maintain a reasonable individual trial caseload, handling complex cases as needed
- Coordinate with the social worker unit and support the development and reporting of grants and programs
- Participate in management meetings and promote an inclusive work environment through equitable supervision practices
Requirements
- Admitted to practice law in New York State
- Minimum of four years of legal practice experience, preferably in family or juvenile law
- Demonstrated litigation skills and experience providing pro bono representation
- In-depth knowledge of family court, custody, domestic violence, and child welfare
- Proficiency in Legal Server and online research tools such as Lexis
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule requiring physical presence three days per week
