Trial Attorney

Responsibilities

• Represent and support clients accused of federal crimes through all phases of litigation, from arrest through trial and sentencing
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary legal team including investigators, paralegals, social workers, and administrative staff
• Conduct legal research, analysis, and writing to support case development
• Participate in courtroom proceedings, including suppression hearings and oral arguments
• Collaborate with FDNY attorneys and attend professional trainings and conferences

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school
• Minimum of 4 years of legal experience post-J.D., with a focus on criminal defense, litigation, and trial experience in federal or state court
• Proven courtroom experience, including suppression hearings and oral arguments
• Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility to gain admission upon hire)
• Proficiency in legal research and writing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency or professional proficiency in Spanish
