About the role
Responsibilities
- Represent and support clients accused of federal crimes through all phases of litigation, from arrest through trial and sentencing
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary legal team including investigators, paralegals, social workers, and administrative staff
- Conduct legal research, analysis, and writing to support case development
- Participate in courtroom proceedings, including suppression hearings and oral arguments
- Collaborate with FDNY attorneys and attend professional trainings and conferences
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 4 years of legal experience post-J.D., with a focus on criminal defense, litigation, and trial experience in federal or state court
- Proven courtroom experience, including suppression hearings and oral arguments
- Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility to gain admission upon hire)
- Proficiency in legal research and writing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency or professional proficiency in Spanish
