Trial Advocacy Adjunct Professor

Responsibilities

• Co-teach a trial advocacy course in collaboration with full-time faculty members
• Attend weekly lectures and lead small group sections of the trial advocacy course
• Coach one or more inter-school mock trial teams
• Collaborate with faculty and the Associate Dean of Advocacy to develop curriculum and training materials
• Assist with the administration of the Mock Trial Program, including planning competitions, practices, and travel coordination

Requirements

• Juris-Doctor (J.D.) degree
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-J.D. legal experience, including significant experience as a trial lawyer (criminal or civil)
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience mentoring, teaching, or supervising law students or recent graduates
• Active membership in a state bar association

Preferred Qualifications

• Record of involvement in national or state advocacy organizations (e.g., NITA, LAAC, NALAE)
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
• Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into teaching and coaching
