About the role
Responsibilities
- Co-teach a trial advocacy course in collaboration with full-time faculty members
- Attend weekly lectures and lead small group sections of the trial advocacy course
- Coach one or more inter-school mock trial teams
- Collaborate with faculty and the Associate Dean of Advocacy to develop curriculum and training materials
- Assist with the administration of the Mock Trial Program, including planning competitions, practices, and travel coordination
Requirements
- Juris-Doctor (J.D.) degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of post-J.D. legal experience, including significant experience as a trial lawyer (criminal or civil)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience mentoring, teaching, or supervising law students or recent graduates
- Active membership in a state bar association
Preferred Qualifications
- Record of involvement in national or state advocacy organizations (e.g., NITA, LAAC, NALAE)
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
- Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into teaching and coaching
