Traverse Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Supervise ground penetrating radar (GPR) operations, including image analysis and crevasses safety assessment.
• Manage field logistics, including navigation, cargo movement, weather observation, and communications.
• Lead and supervise traverse staff, conducting daily briefings, safety tailgate meetings, and performance evaluations.
• Act as safety coordinator by implementing environmental, health, and safety programs and conducting hazard assessments.
• Oversee equipment operation, maintenance, and repair, including heavy equipment and tracked vehicles.
• Manage fuel transfers, storage inspections, and accurate tracking of consumption and delivery.
• Maintain detailed operational records such as fuel figures, weather data, travel logs, and emergency incidents.
• Coordinate and support Search and Rescue missions or emergency tasking as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a polar guide, management, or field operations role.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• US Citizenship (required for facility credentials).
• Valid US Driver's License.
• Ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods and work in extreme cold.
• Ability to pass NSF-required medical, dental, and background examinations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in polar region traverses.
• Experience in project management, cargo movement, or fuel operations.
• Experience operating heavy equipment or managing 24-hour facilities.
