Traveling Cook

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve well-balanced, nutritious meals for clients and special events
• Cook using various techniques including baking, grilling, frying, boiling, and steaming
• Assist in the development of daily and seasonal menus
• Maintain strict sanitation, hygiene, and food handling standards per Department of Health guidelines
• Manage food inventory, monitor stock, and place orders
• Set up, clean, and organize workstations and kitchen equipment
• Facilitate cooking workshops with youth
• Collaborate with cooks, kitchen helpers, and residential staff

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED and Certificate in Food Protection
• 2-3 years of experience in the food service industry
• Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation techniques
• Ability to operate institutional ovens, steamers, kettles, and slicers
• Ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
• Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift 40 pounds or more
• Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

Preferred Qualifications

• Culinary school diploma
