About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve well-balanced, nutritious meals for clients and special events
- Cook using various techniques including baking, grilling, frying, boiling, and steaming
- Assist in the development of daily and seasonal menus
- Maintain strict sanitation, hygiene, and food handling standards per Department of Health guidelines
- Manage food inventory, monitor stock, and place orders
- Set up, clean, and organize workstations and kitchen equipment
- Facilitate cooking workshops with youth
- Collaborate with cooks, kitchen helpers, and residential staff
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED and Certificate in Food Protection
- 2-3 years of experience in the food service industry
- Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Ability to operate institutional ovens, steamers, kettles, and slicers
- Ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
- Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift 40 pounds or more
- Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary school diploma
