Travel Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee the museum’s donor travel programs, including international and domestic trips for the Director’s Circle, Curators’ Circle, and Contemporaries.
• Lead the conceptualization and planning of each trip, including destination research, itinerary creation, and managing detailed budgets and timelines.
• Arrange special-access visits to museums, galleries, private collections, and artist studios to provide unique art experiences.
• Manage third-party tour operators and negotiate vendor contracts to secure high-quality services.
• Execute trips onsite, acting as a logistics manager and brand ambassador for SFMOMA while managing staff and donor relationships.
• Work cross-departmentally with Curatorial, the Director’s Office, and Philanthropy teams to align travel with strategic goals.
• Maintain accurate records of traveler reservations, attendee lists, and program impact metrics.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in development, special events, travel, or a related field.
• Proven experience in project management, specifically executing complex events or travel programs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact diplomatically with high-level stakeholders and donors.
• Ability to travel internationally and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to produce highly detailed work and problem-solve under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a knowledge of or interest in art or art history.
• Previous experience with international travel (personal or professional).
