Trap Net Boat & Fish Co. Trainee

Responsibilities

• Learn and execute trap net boat operations, including navigation and maintenance
• Assist in setting, lifting, and maintaining trap nets for harvesting Lake Superior fish
• Perform production floor operations such as dressing, scaling, and filleting fish
• Utilize knives and machinery safely to process fish products
• Grade, weigh, and package fish for shipment and delivery
• Maintain facility sanitation and follow HACCP protocols and record-keeping requirements
• Assist with receiving bulk shipments and preparing products for smoking or vacuum packing

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 90% of the shift) in cold temperatures
• Ability to lift, handle, and perform maneuvers with weights up to 100 lbs
• Strong willingness to learn boat operations, commercial fishing codes, and food processing
• Ability to pass a drug test and a background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food processing or manufacturing environments
• Prior experience in fish production
• Previous experience in retail or customer service
