Transportation Compliance Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee Provincial and Federal motor carrier regulations, including Highway Traffic Acts and National Safety Code standards
• Manage driver qualification files within the Safety Management System (SEMS), including licenses, medical certifications, and training records
• Utilize telematics tools such as GeoTab and Lytx to monitor driver performance, HOS compliance, and safety metrics
• Conduct operational audits of maintenance files, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), and carrier profiles
• Partner with Fleet and Risk Management teams to ensure proper vehicle licensing and permitting
• Review major accidents to assist in investigations and identify regional safety trends
• Lead regular communication with Operations and Regional leadership regarding compliance updates and trending analysis
• Manage specialized compliance projects, such as Hazardous Waste Hauling License renewals

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Safety, Transportation, Fleet Logistics, or equivalent professional experience
• 8+ years of dedicated experience in Canadian transportation compliance
• Advanced proficiency in GeoTab Drive and Lytx/Drive Cam platforms
• Deep understanding of Canadian Federal and Provincial Motor Carrier legislation
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs)
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% to various site locations across Canada
