About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the transport team to execute traffic plans and meet customer service levels
- Control costs in line with budget and forecast expectations
- Reduce non-contract maintenance and damage spends
- Ensure fleet availability and resource planning
- Motivate and develop the transport team through training and development plans
- Communicate with third-party hauliers regarding vehicle defects
- Approve maintenance cost reports and related invoices
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly compliance milestones
- Attend customer review meetings and monitor suppliers
- Implement service improvements and continuous improvement ideas
Requirements
- Proven supervisory experience in a busy transport environment, ideally FMCG
- Leadership and motivational skills with experience building teams
- Commercial knowledge of transport operations and shared user environments
- Strong negotiating, planning, and organizing skills
- High level of numeracy and effective communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a competitive and demanding environment
- National and International CPC qualification is desirable
