Transport Operations Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate heavy vehicle and driver movements to ensure operational excellence and compliance
• Act as the primary liaison for clients, internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers
• Participate in a 1:3 weekly on-call rotation to manage operational challenges and customer inquiries
• Oversee driver and vehicle movements in strict adherence to Company Policies and Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
• Provide direct support to warehouse operations, including freight handling and load staging coordination
• Facilitate daily pre-start toolbox talks to communicate safety alerts and operational priorities
• Supervise Logistics Coordinators, Yard, and Warehouse teams to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
• Manage contractor relationships and ensure service delivery meets contractual terms
• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions to improve safety and efficiency
• Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of operational staff

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a similar leadership role
• Sound knowledge of the transport industry and business management
• Understanding of Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation
• Experience managing driver requirements and disciplinary actions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt to a demanding environment
• HC Heavy Vehicle licence (desirable)
