About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient medical management for transplant patients within the Ajmera Transplant Centre (ATC).
- Conduct patient interviews, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to diagnose and treat illnesses.
- Perform therapeutic or diagnostic procedures and provide medical orders and prescriptions.
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges under the direction of a supervising Transplant Attending.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, education, and research activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or recognized equivalent.
- Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) and/or American Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) designation.
- Current membership in the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA).
- Eligibility to work in Canada and Ontario.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work 8 to 12-hour shifts, including days and evenings.
- Demonstrated ability to perform well in critical, high-stress clinical situations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a surgical setting.
- New graduates from the Physician Assistant Career Start Program.
