About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical management for transplant patients within the Ajmera Transplant Centre (ATC).
  • Conduct patient interviews, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests to diagnose and treat illnesses.
  • Perform therapeutic or diagnostic procedures and provide medical orders and prescriptions.
  • Assist with patient admissions and discharges under the direction of a supervising Transplant Attending.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, education, and research activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or recognized equivalent.
  • Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) and/or American Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) designation.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA).
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and Ontario.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work 8 to 12-hour shifts, including days and evenings.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well in critical, high-stress clinical situations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a surgical setting.
  • New graduates from the Physician Assistant Career Start Program.
