Transmission Relay Technician I or II

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in the construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transmission relay systems and protection and control (P&C) circuits.
• Perform expert installation, commissioning, and testing of carriers, tone equipment, traps, tuners, and relays.
• Conduct remote logic testing and end-to-end testing using time-synched test sets.
• Review and critique isolation procedures and coach teams on proper execution techniques.
• Identify and correct design errors in existing drawings and schemes.
• Troubleshoot complex SCADA systems, legacy RTUs, and associated wiring/IO.
• Maintain high safety standards and utilize effective 3-way communication.
• Manage technical paperwork and files to ensure accuracy and timely submission.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology.
• For Technician I: 1+ years of related work experience (or High School/GED with 3+ years experience).
• For Technician II: 3+ years of related work experience (or High School/GED with 5+ years experience).
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to pass NERC/CIP/Nuclear background checks.
• Availability for after-hours work and call-out rotations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert technical and professional knowledge of P&C schemes.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills for junior technicians.
• Strong ability to develop positive working relationships to coordinate activities.
• Experience with SEL3354, SEL3610, and DFR equipment.
