About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support services for students with intellectual disabilities to ensure appropriate accommodations and community integration.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, secondary transition counselors, instructors, and academic advisors for the Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary (CTP) program.
  • Assist students in developing self-advocacy skills, time management, and independence within the college environment.
  • Identify and arrange academic support services, adapted educational methods, and assistive technology to meet individual student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and act as an advocate and troubleshooter when challenges arise.
  • Facilitate workshops and provide information to students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding disability-related needs and available services.
  • Coordinate student schedules, oversee data collection, and ensure internal compliance with program requirements and policies.
  • Collaborate with external community agencies and specialized resources to support student transitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social and human sciences, rehabilitation, or special education.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in rehabilitation, counseling, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of college systems, policies, and campus resources.
  • Understanding of a wide range of disabilities and their academic, vocational, and social impacts.
  • Knowledge of appropriate accommodations, classroom adaptations, and assistive technology.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of disability-related laws, including the ADA and Section 504.
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service and student advocacy.
  • Experience in creating and sustaining inclusive and accessible environments.
