About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum and provide training to physicians, nurses, technologists, and patients on evidence-based transfusion practices
- Utilize quality improvement tools like LEAN, root cause analysis, and FMEA to improve blood transfusion safety
- Collaborate with Nursing Councils, Blood Bank Medical Director, and various committees to develop and review policies and procedures
- Identify, implement, and evaluate blood conservation strategies across the organization
- Collect and distribute blood utilization data, including blood use, waste, and transfusion reactions
- Conduct audits related to blood utilization and investigate utilization trends
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in nursing
- 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
- Current Illinois RN License
- Eligibility for Board Certification
- Knowledge of transfusion risks, benefits, alternatives, and regulations
- Expertise in transfusion administration and patient monitoring
- Demonstrated success with project management and change management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- 6-10 years of job-related experience
