About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum and provide training to physicians, nurses, technologists, and patients on evidence-based transfusion practices
  • Utilize quality improvement tools like LEAN, root cause analysis, and FMEA to improve blood transfusion safety
  • Collaborate with Nursing Councils, Blood Bank Medical Director, and various committees to develop and review policies and procedures
  • Identify, implement, and evaluate blood conservation strategies across the organization
  • Collect and distribute blood utilization data, including blood use, waste, and transfusion reactions
  • Conduct audits related to blood utilization and investigate utilization trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in nursing
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
  • Current Illinois RN License
  • Eligibility for Board Certification
  • Knowledge of transfusion risks, benefits, alternatives, and regulations
  • Expertise in transfusion administration and patient monitoring
  • Demonstrated success with project management and change management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • 6-10 years of job-related experience
