About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate the transaction monitoring framework for cross-border payment and remittance flows, including stablecoin-based transfers.
  • Own end-to-end sanctions and PEP screening across all transaction flows to ensure compliance with OFAC, UN, EU, and UAE local designations.
  • Partner with the technology team to scope, prioritize, and QA AI-driven agentic tooling for first-pass screening.
  • Perform manual reviews of escalated cases that require human judgment, maintaining clear audit trails and documented decisions.
  • Establish and maintain transaction monitoring policies calibrated to the company's client base and risk profile.
  • Build coverage models and perform rate analysis on historical data to calibrate thresholds and rules.
  • Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the MLRO for submission to the UAEFIU.
  • Act as the subject matter expert during regulatory examinations, client due diligence requests, and internal risk reviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or payments operations with direct hands-on experience in sanctions.
  • Proven experience owning transaction monitoring frameworks rather than just contributing to them.
  • Experience using compliance tooling and the ability to critically assess AI-assisted review tools.
  • Strong ability to make risk-based decisions under ambiguity with documented rationale.
  • Excellent written communication skills suitable for briefing regulators, senior officers, and engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to remittance corridors, virtual asset transactions, or VASP compliance frameworks.
  • CAMS or equivalent professional certification.
