Transaction Monitoring Associate - Fiat & Crypto

Responsibilities

• Monitor and review transaction alerts across fiat and digital asset rails, including cards, virtual accounts, and stablecoin settlements.
• Conduct Level 1 (L1) analysis on flagged transactions to identify normal, unusual, or suspicious behavior using AML typologies.
• Investigate on-chain activity using blockchain analytics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, or TRM Labs) to trace fund flows and map wallet relationships.
• Perform wallet address screening and risk scoring to identify exposure to sanctioned addresses, mixers, or high-risk VASPs.
• Document investigation findings, rationale, and disposition decisions in the case management system to maintain an auditable trail.
• Escalate complex alerts or potential STR/SAR thresholds to Level 2 investigators or Senior Compliance Officers.
• Apply crypto-specific typologies such as chain-hopping, peel chains, and DeFi layering to investigations.
• Screen counterparties and wallet addresses against global sanctions lists (OFAC, UN, EU, MAS).

Requirements

• 2–6 years of experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML/CFT compliance, or financial crime investigation within fintech, crypto, or regulated financial institutions.
• Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics platforms for fund-flow tracing and wallet attribution.
• Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT regulatory frameworks, FATF Recommendations, and the virtual-asset regulatory landscape (e.g., Travel Rule, MiCA).
• Understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including UTXO vs. account-based models, hosted vs. unhosted wallets, and stablecoins.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Economics, or a related field.
• Fluency in English with excellent written communication skills for documenting investigation narratives.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, or ICA Diploma in AML.
• Specialized blockchain certifications (e.g., Chainalysis or TRM certifications).
