Age 18 or above, Valid driver's license, Clean driving record, English language assessment proficiency, Ability to pass Physical Ability Test
About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect equipment, locomotives, and rail cars to ensure safety for movement
- Perform tasks including coupling equipment, aligning drawbars, and operating remote control locomotives
- Apply and release hand brakes and ride rail cars as required
- Communicate effectively with crews, yard controllers, and dispatchers via radio or hand signals
- Maintain accurate written and electronic documentation
- Comply with all railroad rules, regulations, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) standards
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past 36 months
- Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
- Proficiency in English language assessment
- Ability to work on-call 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 85 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on 2nd or 3rd shifts
- Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
- Experience working with or around heavy equipment in motion
- Experience working in confined spaces or at varying heights
