Traffic Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic engineering tasks including impact analyses, forecasting studies, roundabout feasibility, and signal timing studies
• Analyze crash data to develop safety improvement recommendations under supervision
• Design traffic control plans, signing, markings, and quantity take-offs
• Apply fundamental engineering principles to produce high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations
• Provide engineering support on various projects and tasks as needed within the Critical Infrastructure team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning
• Basic knowledge and skill with traffic engineering and CAD software such as Synchro, Sidra, HCS, or MicroStation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
• Familiarity with Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
• Familiarity with Georgia DOT policies and procedures
• Knowledge of traffic safety principles and procedures
• Previous internship or work experience specifically in traffic or transportation engineering
