About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic engineering tasks including impact analyses, forecasting studies, roundabout feasibility, and signal timing studies
- Analyze crash data to develop safety improvement recommendations under supervision
- Design traffic control plans, signing, markings, and quantity take-offs
- Apply fundamental engineering principles to produce high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations
- Provide engineering support on various projects and tasks as needed within the Critical Infrastructure team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning
- Basic knowledge and skill with traffic engineering and CAD software such as Synchro, Sidra, HCS, or MicroStation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Familiarity with Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
- Familiarity with Georgia DOT policies and procedures
- Knowledge of traffic safety principles and procedures
- Previous internship or work experience specifically in traffic or transportation engineering
