Traffic Controller 3

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement traffic control plans in collaboration with the Traffic Control Lead and Manager
• Coordinate with Anaheim Police Department (APD) Traffic personnel to ensure safe operations
• Provide pre-event planning and coordination to ensure adequate staffing levels
• Direct and lead traffic control personnel assigned to specific posts to ensure safety and accuracy
• Monitor and adjust traffic control plans, including signage, cone placement, and staffing, to support efficient ingress and egress
• Oversee the deployment and removal of traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers
• Oversee the operation of stop/slow paddles, automated flagging assistance devices (AFADs), and Portable Changeable Message Signs (PCMS)
• Perform regular site inspections and respond quickly to changing road or weather conditions
• Conduct regular checks of department vehicles and emergency lighting to ensure equipment is in working order
• Complete accurate and thorough incident reports and related documentation

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in traffic control, construction, or public safety
• Roadway Flagger certification through a Caltrans-approved provider
• Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification through a Caltrans-approved provider
• Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification through a Caltrans-approved provider
• Valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV record
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and near busy roadways
