About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and renovation work on gas, air, water, fire protection, and waste disposal systems.
  • Maintain plumbing fixtures, backflow prevention devices, and interior/exterior water mains and drainage systems.
  • Assemble parts, equipment, and fittings using soldering, brazing, gluing, screwing, and bolting methods.
  • Diagnose defects in equipment and perform necessary repairs or recommend solutions to leadership.
  • Respond to service requests and emergencies during and after normal working hours.
  • Prepare cost estimates for jobs and order required materials.
  • Monitor and check the work of apprentices and labourers as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and technical specifications.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson trade certification in Plumbing.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid BC driver's license.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in mechanical piping and/or service plumbing.
  • Valid BC Gas Fitter B License with electrical endorsement for low voltage.
  • BC Cross Connection Control certificate.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, sketches, and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shift patterns based on operational needs.
