Trader, Real Time

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time energy trading and marketing to financially optimize corporate renewable and thermal assets
• Negotiate wholesale sales and purchases in hourly markets and capture arbitrage opportunities
• Manage day-ahead and real-time transactions, including unit bids/offers in Northeastern and Midwestern ISOs
• Create NERC E-tags, purchase transmission via OASIS, and schedule energy flow
• Maintain physical positions through trading software and record deals accurately in the energy management system
• Coordinate generation operations with dispatch personnel and provide schedules to ISOs and transmission providers
• Provide market pricing insights and short-term operational intelligence to the trading team

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in mathematics, business, finance, economics, or engineering
• Solid understanding of power generation and transmission operations
• Experience with energy markets such as WECC, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, or NYISO
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with automated trading tools
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to function independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience trading at different points within California or managing physical assets within the WSCC
• Familiarity with LIM or other price data warehouses
• Experience with virtual transactions and modeling intra-day/next-day pricing
• Ability to navigate a highly matrixed, international organizational structure
