Trade Finance Lawyer VP

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter legal advice and support to the Bank's corporate and investment banking divisions globally.
• Focus on transactions across trade and working capital finance, cash management, real estate finance, and asset-backed finance.
• Develop and implement best practice legal strategies to manage risks related to non-adherence to laws, rules, and regulations.
• Create, review, and maintain legal documentation to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Support the Legal department in representing the bank in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
• Deliver training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal functions such as credit, compliance, risk, tax, and operations to align legal advice with business objectives.

Requirements

• English law qualified Solicitor.
• Current experience working in a law firm or an in-house department of a reputable bank focusing on finance transactional work.
• Thorough knowledge of general banking and finance law.
• Proven track record in structured and cross-border transactions.
• Strong technical legal skills, including the ability to draft and negotiate legal documentation to a high standard.
• Ability to coordinate complex projects and transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialist expertise in trade finance products, including bonds, guarantees, indemnities, and export credit agency backed financings.
• Experience gained working in-house for a financial institution.
• Strong commercial focus and the ability to think laterally.
• Ability to manage a varied workload under pressure and handle competing priorities.
