Trade Finance Advisor

Responsibilities

• Advise, confirm, negotiate, and settle Letters of Credit (LC) and Documentary Collections.
• Review standby, import, and export letters of credit to ensure terms are workable, neutral, and mitigate risk.
• Examine commercial, legal, transport, title, and insurance documents for compliance with LC terms.
• Provide guidance to clients on documentary requirements and help resolve discrepancies to expedite payments.
• Facilitate trade financing solutions through bills discounting and bills purchasing methodologies.
• Structure SWIFT messages to communicate with partner and correspondent banks.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to OFAC Sanctions, BSA/AML Transaction Monitoring, and BIS Anti-Boycott Regulations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Credit Administration to resolve complex issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of Trade Finance experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of experience in Trade Finance.
• Thorough knowledge of international rules and practices including UCP600, ISP98, URDG758, URR 725, and URC 522.
• Strong understanding of INCOTERMS.
• Experience with SWIFT messaging.
• Knowledge of OFAC Sanctions and BSA/AML compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of Trade Finance experience within a financial institution.
• Excellent leadership, customer service, and relationship management skills.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
