Trade Compliance/Export Controls Manager

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a robust export control and ITAR compliance program
• Act as the Empowered Official responsible for ITAR compliance and signing license applications
• Prepare and manage export licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), and Manufacturing License Agreements (MLAs)
• Classify products, software, and technology under USML or CCL
• Conduct regular internal audits and manage risk mitigation
• Provide ITAR-related training to engineering, procurement, and sales teams
• Manage deemed export controls and foreign national screening
• Oversee export shipping, logistics compliance, and AESDirect submissions
• Collaborate with IT/Cybersecurity to ensure secure storage of controlled technical data
• Support Business Development by reviewing international contracts and proposals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, Law, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in ITAR and export compliance within aerospace, defense, or high-tech sectors
• In-depth knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and U.S. export control laws
• Experience managing export licenses and agreements
• Proficiency with compliance software and government portals (DECCS, SNAP-R, AESDirect, SAP GTS)
• U.S. Citizenship required to obtain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or similar certification
• Master's degree or Juris Doctor
