About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, installations, and removal of track components
  • Safely handle and move track materials and equipment using loading and unloading devices
  • Regularly inspect the track for problems, defects, and potential hazards
  • Operate equipment to drive spikes, adjust track bolts, and use pullers
  • Maintain the trackbed by removing, replacing, and tamping ballast
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated welding experience or a valid welding certificate
  • Ability to successfully pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
  • Ability to successfully complete an English language assessment
  • Ability to acquire a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) during the probationary period if required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Class A or Class B CDL
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Railroad Maintenance of Way work
  • Proficiency in operating heavy construction or farm machinery
  • Experience working in construction environments and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Availability to work on-call, overtime, and various shifts including weekends and holidays
