About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance on tracks, including repairing, installing, and removing components
- Maintain the trackbed by removing, replacing, and tamping ballast
- Handle and transport track materials and equipment using appropriate load/unload devices
- Operate equipment to drive spikes, tighten/loosen track bolts, and remove spikes
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, operational guidelines, and FRA requirements
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and contractors
Requirements
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Acceptable driving record per Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs and push/pull up to 119 lbs
- Proficiency in English language assessment
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in Railroad Maintenance of Way work
- Experience in a construction-oriented environment or working outdoors in diverse weather
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including construction or farm machinery
- Strong welding skills or possession of a welding certificate
- Flexibility to work on-call, overtime, and various shifts including weekends and holidays
