About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and install railroad track components to ensure safe train movement
  • Handle and transport track materials and equipment using appropriate devices
  • Perform trackbed maintenance, including removing, replacing, and tamping ballast
  • Operate equipment to drive spikes, tighten/loosen track bolts, and remove spikes
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements
  • Develop positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and contractors

Requirements

  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Acceptable driving record per Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
  • Ability to meet FMCSA medical requirements for commercial drivers
  • Proficiency in English language assessment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in Railroad Maintenance of Way work
  • Experience in construction-oriented environments or operating heavy machinery
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions
  • Strong welding skills or possession of a welding certificate
  • Flexibility to work on-call, overtime, and various shifts including weekends and holidays
