Tour Guide Trainer

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver training programs for new and existing tour guides
• Develop training materials including scripts, manuals, presentations, and assessments
• Train guides on storytelling techniques, visitor engagement, and communication skills
• Ensure guides have accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the site, history, and narratives
• Conduct practical field training, shadowing, and live tour evaluations
• Assess guide performance and provide structured feedback and coaching
• Identify skill gaps and implement improvement plans
• Standardize tour delivery while allowing room for personality and engagement
• Train guides on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and visitor management
• Support onboarding and certification of new tour guides
• Collaborate with operations and management to align training with operational needs
• Update training content based on feedback, changes, or new experiences introduced

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in tourism, education, history, hospitality, or a related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a tour guide or in visitor experience roles
• Prior experience in training, coaching, or teaching
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to evaluate performance objectively and constructively
