Tour Commander

Responsibilities

• Assign, supervise, and evaluate the work performed by Associate Youth Development Specialists
• Implement and operationalize the behavior management incentive program
• Review incident reports and notify the Movement Control and Communications Unit (MCCU)
• Coordinate the delivery of services to youth throughout the detention facility
• Assist in scheduling and assigning staff to maintain adequate coverage
• Conduct individual and group conferences regarding agency policies and Safe Crisis Management techniques
• Prepare performance evaluations and process City Time
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams to plan for youth placement and safety

Requirements

• Must be permanent (not provisional) in the civil service title Associate Youth Development Specialist
• High school diploma and three years of experience working with juveniles (ages 10-24) in a group or institutional setting, OR
• Associate degree with approximately two years of relevant experience, OR
• Baccalaureate degree with approximately one and a half years of relevant experience
• Ability to drive agency vehicles for youth transportation
• Availability to work holidays and weekends based on operational needs
