Tools and Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deliver sophisticated tooling solutions and provide dedicated support to Apple Maps Production Operations
• Act as a critical bridge between Operations and Engineering to build, support, and enhance map-making automation
• Manage a diverse contractor team of engineers and testers
• Define technical requirements and provide strategic input during the development lifecycle
• Execute end-to-end testing with real-world use cases and deploy solutions to Production
• Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation solutions
• Serve as the primary technical troubleshooter and problem-solver for stakeholders

Requirements

• 6 to 9 years of software development experience
• Strong, hands-on programming skills in Python, Scala, and Java
• Proven ability to drive technical strategy regarding test automation architecture and frameworks
• Extensive experience testing client applications, APIs, and distributed backend services
• Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of mapping, navigation, or geospatial technologies
• Hands-on experience with GIS tools such as QGIS, FME, or similar platforms
• Experience managing and mentoring mid-sized technical contractor teams
• Ability to evaluate and champion emerging technologies like generative AI and machine learning
• Prior experience in the field of MLOps
