Toolmaker

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret die designs, CAD data, and sketches to produce metal stamping dies
• Verify materials for type, grade, and dimensions against engineering drawings
• Line up die components and assemblies to required alignments and clearances
• Analyze and problem-solve quality or functional defects in the die
• Measure, modify, and re-test dies until they pass final quality inspection

Requirements

• Red Seal Tool & Die Maker certification or an equivalent combination of technical courses and experience
• 1-3 years of experience as a toolmaker producing new tooling in a tool & die environment
• Experience building progressive, transfer, and robotic transfer dies for automotive metal stamping
• Knowledge of automotive sheet metal stamping, formability, and design
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with machining equipment such as lathes and band saws
• Advanced skills using power tools including drills, saws, and grinders
• Advanced experience with measuring devices such as verniers and gauges
• Intermediate leadership or supervisory skills
