Tooling Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and detail complex molds, fixtures, and simple tools necessary for manufacturing.
• Work with engineering teams to improve product design and manufacturability.
• Check mold, tooling, and product drawings for form, fit, and function.
• Perform cost estimates, budgetary quotes, and vendor selection.
• Produce 3D models and perform basic FEA analysis using 3D modeling software.
• Use mathematical formulas to calculate material stresses and deflection.
• Mentor junior tooling designers and develop tooling standardization.
• Coordinate with machining vendors to ensure functional tooling is produced on time and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with at least 4 years of tooling or mechanical design experience (or 8 years of related technical experience).
• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and drawing software.
• Strong math skills, including trigonometry, area, volume, weight, and CG calculations.
• Strong knowledge of steel material properties and fabrication practices.
• US Citizenship is required (dual citizenship cannot be accepted).
• Comprehensive drafting skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience using CAD software in a machine shop environment.
• Proficiency in strength analysis using SolidWorks software.
