Tooling Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design components and assemblies for work holding equipment used in aerospace, automotive, and marine gear machining processes
• Create and modify 3D models and corresponding component/assembly drawings to meet customer specifications
• Utilize customer technical drawings, schematics, and gear geometry reports to modify existing work holding equipment
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers to develop non-standard tooling for specialized applications
• Partner with manufacturing personnel to optimize designs for ease of assembly, manufacturing, and cost reduction
• Conduct design reviews with senior leadership and manufacturing teams to finalize designs
• Manage project tasks including progress tracking, documentation, and logging hours

Requirements

• Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Pro-Engineer/Creo preferred)
• Ability to perform mechanical and structural calculations (stress, strain, fatigue)
• Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques using Ansys or PTC Mechanica/Simulate
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
• Strong communication skills to effectively present ideas to diverse technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
• 5-10 years of related engineering experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Project Management software
• Experience with SAP modules (Sales & Distribution, Quality Management, Material Management)
