Tool Die and Gage Maker

Responsibilities

• Plan, layout, and perform the fabrication, construction, and repair of a wide variety of tools, dies, and gages
• Interpret complex drawings and instructions to determine material requirements and project sequences
• Perform installations, maintenance, and preventive service work on tooling to ensure product integrity
• Develop unique techniques to resolve production bottlenecks and eliminate unusual or ongoing technical problems
• Instruct others on job requirements, tool maintenance, and safe work practices
• Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and other trade groups on new tooling or equipment installations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of experience in toolmaking
• Broad knowledge of machining methods, metallurgy, plating, and machine shop practices
• Proficiency in using advanced shop mathematics, including geometry, for complex calculations
• Expertise in using a variety of precision measuring instruments and equipment
• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship equivalent in tool, die, and gage making
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position
