Tool Designer

Responsibilities

• Design manufacturing and assembly tooling, fixtures, jigs, and gauges for aircraft interior components
• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, production, quality, and program teams to define tooling requirements
• Ensure tooling designs meet aerospace standards, safety requirements, and ergonomic considerations
• Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments
• Work with suppliers and internal fabrication teams to manufacture, validate, and implement tooling
• Troubleshoot tooling issues on the shop floor and implement continuous improvement solutions
• Maintain tooling documentation, configuration control, and revision management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 3–7 years of experience in tooling design, preferably within the aerospace industry
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6
• Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials, including composites, aluminum, and plastics
• Experience supporting composite, sheet metal, or interior assembly processes
